The Player: Tsukasa's offline life is difficult, although she will never give her real name, nor openly admit to being female. Her age is around 14-15, and she used to live with her abusive father until aftre she got stuck in the World, where Bear's player decided to take her issue to court and adopt her. She's still recovering from being ostracized so much as a child, so she's very quiet and doesn't really speak much, nor does she readily trust people.

The World: A while back, Tsukasa was caught up in some trouble with an intelligent AI using his negative emotions to corrupt another, Aura, preventing him from logging out. Isolating him from everyone, she further increased his loneliness and pain, giving him a guardian to kill anyone that got close enough. His only saviors were another AI: a purple feline named Macha, and the .hackers Mimiru, Bear, and Subaru. Eventually, Tsukasa woke up Aura, but for a different reason than was intended, and he was freed. Now he goes back to the World, still using it as an escape from reality, and to learn how to play the game correctly.
